I have just posted some pictures of makeup simple and advanced, and some costume ideas, and photos of people having fun dressed as zombies. I hope this will inspire you!
You can see how just a little shadowing and blood can go a long way - Rite Aid has some cheap makeup in black and white and green and red, and cheap stage blood, which can take you a long way.
Also:
baby powder on the hair makes it look lifeless and dirty
cocoa powder on the skin makes it look dirty like you crawled out of your grave
If you want to be a bloody zombie (my personal favorite but not technically in keeping with the Thriller aesthetic) the stage blood that tastes like peppermint is the least noxious to have on your person, but mostly looks fresh. the cheap stuff looks thick, and a little chocolate sauce looks like old gross blood.
You will smell and taste like a chocolate mint baby sundae but you will look FABULOUS!
